Sometimes mother nature reaches out and tell us all who is the boss.  It could be rain, sleet, and well a crap load of snow, wind and cold temps to let us know it was January and the 13th even!  But the Megatraxs crew has a roof, a bunch of heaters and plenty of things to plow with the race must go on.  Riders from MI, WI, IA, and IN along with IL came out to pound laps and provide some great racing!  The dimminished crowd was more then made up for with intense competition!

There’s always good some good competition going on in the 85 Sr races, this race we watched as Maximus Schultz (219)

battled it out with Kollin Kropp (131) for fifth place. Schultz started out in front of Kropp and was able to keep ahead for the first couple laps. On their third lap around, the two went into the corner after the big middle jump right next to each other and as they went over that next jump, Kropp made the pass around Schultz to switch their places around. As soon as they got into that corner after, the two were right up against each other. Kropp was able to come out of the corner faster and was able to hold onto that fifth place. As they head into their last lap around things heat up even more, was Kropp going to keep fifth or was Schultz going to take that spot back? Schultz stayed right with Kropp trying to find his way around him, the two stayed very close the rest of the way but Kropp stayed ahead and finished with a fifth leaving Schultz with sixth.

As the 85 Jr class takes off the line, Max Soti (56) takes the lead right off the bat with Braxton Jacobson (38) hanging on to him in second. As the two go through the corner before the dragon back, Jacobson makes a mistake which led Soti to get a tad ahead and Crew Ramsey (920) who was in third to get closer to Jacobson as well. By the end of the next lap, Jacobson was right back up on Soti again, leaving just inches between his front tire and Soti’s back tire. It was going to be a close one between two, leaving no room for mistakes. Every time the two were in the back section of the track is where Jacobson was able to close off any kind of gap between himself and Soti. On their last lap the two were in that back section, Jacobson was practically right next to Soti as they headed into the corner, as they went around the corner it looked like Jacobson’s front tire popped out of the rut and caused him to slow down a bit coming out of that corner. After that, Soti pretty much had the win as long as he didn’t make any mistakes. And that’s exactly what he did, Soti took the win with Jacobson finishing in second! The two put on a very intense race that made it awesome to watch!

Bryson Mejia (27) took the lead in the 50cc Beginner race with Ezekial Anschutz (321) and Blaze Antoniak (619) following in second and third, closely behind. As these guys were battling in the front, a little bit further back we see Alexander Brown (23) out in eight with Easton Ball (18) out in ninth, coming in on him to close that gap that is between them. As time goes by Ball is getting closer and closer to Brown trying to find the right place to make the pass, within the second lap Ball makes the pass! At the same time in the second lap, something happened to Mejia out there when he didn’t come around in the second lap at all and was down pretty far by the third lap. With Mejia dropping down quite a ways this left the battle for first place between Anschutz and Antoniak with Anschutz holding the lead. Ball was up to seventh now and if he could keep this placing he could get his first trophy! Things were heating up between Anschutz and Antoniak as there were only a couple laps left, Antoniak was still hanging onto Anschutz trying to find a way to take that lead. Within those last couple laps, there were a few spots out on the track where Antoniak was able to get right up next to Anschutz but just couldn’t make it completely around him. Checkered flag was out and Anschutz takes the win and Antoniak with a second place finish! Ball kept that seventh till the end of the race and was rewarded with his first trophy leading to much excitement!

The gate drops and the 50cc Sr class takes off the line, Jacob Fox (711) and Zeyden Lawson (514) fight for that hole shot as they go around that first corner. Fox grabs the lead as Lawson is hanging onto him in second and Malachi Anschutz (335) right behind Lawson in third. About half way through their first lap around, Anschutz makes the pass around Lawson to take second and instantly gets right up on Fox who is still holding the lead. Lawson still hanging with the two in front but also had Jeffrey Saathoff (93) and Jaxson Donnelly (116) following closely behind. As they get closer to ending their third lap, the two go around the berm before the dragon back, Anschutz decides to take the outside and makes the pass to take the lead! Fourth and final lap, Anschutz is leading with Fox close in second and Saathoff makes the pass around Lawson to put himself up in third! All three held those positions to the checkered flag as the race came to an end.

As we move onto big bikes later in the day, Melanie Spizzirri (24/) and Ady Achenbach (24) put on an amazing battle in the Womens Intermediate class. Spizzirri pulled the hole shot with Achenbach just inches behind her, it wasn’t too long into just their first lap and Achenbach came around and stole the lead. Spizzirri stayed right with her and wasn’t backing down, it didn’t take long before Spizzirri stole that lead back in the second lap. There was still a few laps left of the race so anything could happen. Achenbach was staying right on Spizzirri trying to find a way around her, but Spizzirri was keeping that lead for as long as she could. It was about the fourth lap in, as they two were headed for the big middle jump, still competing for first place, Achenbach made the pass to switch it up. One lap left and Spizzirri was hanging onto Achenbach, not leaving much time to take the lead back. As the finish line was just ahead, Achenbach managed to keep that lead and get a win and Spizzirri taking second! These two put on such an intense race and were well deserved of their finishing positions!

Whenever Kyle White (19) and Garrett Ward (31) line up next to each other, you know it’s going to be a close race. White takes the lead right off the bat with Ward right on his heels as they race around the track. While these took off from the rest of the class, Justin Hager (788), Anthony Biagi (107), and RJ Mackenzie (352) run in a close pack together. These guys keep their positions while trying to find a way to get around each other, in their third lap around Biagi takes the inside line in the corner before the dragon back to try and pass Hager but it seems to slow him down by a bit because as they went over the dragon back Mackenzie made the pass around Biagi. Mackenzie instantly got right up on Hager and within the next couple laps he made another pass around Hager to take that third place spot. As these guy are switching their positions around, Ward is still just inches away from White, neither of them are going to be backing down. Ward is making sure that White is going to earn that first place. As the race comes to an end White pulls a win, Ward in second, Mackenzie with a third, and Hager in fourth!

In the 250 B race, Zachery Johnson (7) takes the lead with Braden Munson (717) following close in second. The two stayed this way for about the first couple laps, in their third lap around, things started heating up as the two were going through the back section of the track and Munson was able to get right up next to Johnson but Johnson made sure to keep that lead. As they got to that back section again in the fourth lap, Munson got right with Johnson again, the two racing next to each other, and as they went over the big middle jump and into that corner Johnson made sure to take the inside line while Munson took outside line still next to each other. With Johnson taking the inside line he keeps the lead, but the two stay battling around the track for their last lap. Munson was closer than ever to Johnson and almost had him till he hit Johnson’s back tire going through that corner after the middle jump. Johnson took the win and Munson placed in second.
