Riders are starting to come into their own lately and some of the noteable ones are in the headline and were a factor on this race night but over time as riders age, and or excell in thier riding abilities unless they are winning by leaps and bounds every weekend their acomplishments might go undetected.
We seen so many this year move themselves into higher classes to be more competitive but in that spirit also make them improve as well. True meaning of sportsmanship, race where you belong. A few weeks ago we seen riders likt Thompson, and Palka make that move, after a few races they are now more competitive within the new class. This race seen long time rider BenJamin Schmidt (491) decide it was time to move up and play in the A class. Long time fast woods rider but in reality all round rider of all types Schmidt's move was some what a surprise. He of course shows up on his street legal Halls Husky Headight, tailight, and license street legal machine since his moto bike was down.
On the ground in practice, finds his way around in 30A with a holeshot and then launches off the berm at the end of the straightaway coming back on to the track like going over a log. He along with so many riders from around here know that racing most all types of racing makes you faster and have more fun, Schmidt now a "dad" with 2 little ones is finding some new fun in racing with mom and the kids rooting him on to "go dad"! These are some of the things that standing and watching/ scoring races we don't get to see or know, but find out after the fact and is almost a complete story in it's self. 491 was either on the ground or in the lead! I am sure he will smooth out his riding once he gets back on his moto bike!
As the Girls class took off, Rylee Woods (610) pulled the hole shot and took the lead, and quickly pulled away from the rest of the class. Within the first lap there was already some battling going on, Harper Hastings (279) was in third with Leila Wood (27) right on her heels. Hastings was doing what she could to stay ahead while Addison Smith (27/) came into the battle. As the three came over the tower jump, they are all just inches from one another, and just as they’re about to finish their second lap around, Wood took the inside hump to make a pass and switch her spot with Hastings. As soon as she got ahead you could see her starting to pull away little by little and leave the battling between Hastings and Smith. If Hastings wanted to keep that fourth place and not move down anymore she just had to hold off Smith for two more laps, and that she did. By the time the checkered flag came out, Wood had put a good amount of distance on the other two and took third, Hastings held off Smith and finished with fourth and Smith in fifth.
Zeyden Lawson (514) got the hole shot in the 50cc Open class with Aiden Kane (118) grabbing second and Jaxson Donnelly (116) in third very close behind. Within just the first lap Lawson had pulled away and put quite a bit of distance between him and the other two. As Kane and Donnelly were going around on their first lap we could see Donnelly wanting to make a pass around him but he just had to find the right spot to do so. By the second lap around Donnelly had made the pass and took that second place spot. Unfortunately for Donnelly, Lawson was too far gone to catch up to in just a few laps so he had to make sure to stay ahead of Kane and not make any mistakes so he could keep that second place. After getting passed by Donnelly, Kane was making sure no one else was getting around him, he wanted to keep third place. As the race came to an end, Lawson finished in first, Donnelly held onto that second, and Kane took third.
There were quite a few different battles going on in the 65 Sr race. Wyatt Sandy (701) started out in second with Jesse James (812)
hanging out in third wanting to take second from Sandy, but Sandy was not going to give up that easy, these two were moving pretty good and had some room between them and William Neill (111) who was in fourth and Max Soti (56) in fifth. Within the second lap Soti made a pass on Neill and put himself in fourth, now that he got around Neill he was trying to catch up to James and Sandy. As Sandy and James are still battling, a new battle comes along with Neill, Cole Stalker (33), and Kenny Grace (711). These three were out there having their own little race between each other trying to pass one another. Last lap and Sandy is still holding off James, Soti still in fourth place, who had gotten closer to them but not quite in the battle with them. Neill and Stalker seemed to have pulled just a tad bit away from Grace. Stalker was running out of time if he wanted to make a pass, the two come into the last corner before the finish line jump, Neill took the outside berm and Stalker took the inside hump and in that moment it looked like Stalker actually had him, but Neill gave it just a little bit more throttle to make sure he stayed in front and finished with a fifth, leaving Stalker in sixth. Sandy managed to hold off James till the end and finished in second leaving James in third and Soti in fourth.
Amos Vincent (358) and Will Fabrizius (142) had quite a battle going on in the 250 C class! Vincent took off in second with Fabrizius staying close behind him in third. For the first couple laps Fabrizius was looking for a way to get around Vincent, he could get right up on him but just couldn’t get around him completely untill the very end of their third lap around where Fabrizius made the pass. Now Fabrizius is in second and Vincent in third, Vincent is making sure to tay close behind so he can hopefully make a pass back and take back his spot. These two didn’t get very far into their fourth lap when Vincent made a pass on Fabrizius and took second place back! Fabrizius was not going to give up, there was still one more lap left, anything can happen at this point with how close these two are racing to one another. And just as these two are about to finish their race, Fabrizius passes Vincent back again! With no time left, Fabrizius finished with a second and Vincent took third, these two put on an amazing race!
Ryan Knott (225) took the lead with Wyatt Hall (710) close behind in the 30+ B/C class. For the first couple lap Knott was out there doing everything he could to try and stay just right ahead of Hall, while Hall was trying to find someway to get around him. On the third lap Hall made a pass and took the lead! Knott wasn’t gonna let Hall get too far ahead, he still wanted to try and get that lead back, but Hall was not going to let that happen. Hall made sure to keep the lead all the way to the finish line to get himself a win and left Knott with a second.
As the summer progresses and the temps have been a little toasty it's great to ride in the evening and enjoy the nice temps and great weather after the sun starts to set!
