Spring is in the air! Well it is fooling us every time that temp hits the 50* mark and this race day was no different. Warmer temps makes for some interesting racing. Not sure the outside temp mattered much in the 30+B'c Class but the racing was intense. Riley Marsh (72) on his homemade Suzuki/electric pulls the holeshot and Bryce Olson (308) tried his damnest to pass but didn't get it done.. Shizam! Marsh takes the victory, which we have been watching for this for sometime. Riley's been on the box a few times and has done well for his bike is cool, but lacks in straight-away speed. Half way down the track it shows it's achiles and flatten's out. This time, didn't matter he was railing the corners and putting in solid laps to take what we think is his first win on that machine. Nice work!
Again this month the 85cc rippers were on hand to show that they are ready to do battle. Grant Robinson (426), Emmett Baker (309) and Landon Brandt (614) have been having some great racing all winter season, this night Grant took a hard spill and didn't return to finish but reports are he is doing ok. Emmett new to the 85cc class this season has stepped up big time, still making "rookie" mistakes but in the end improving vastly. Landon as well. Not that long ago he wasn't in the top positions but lately if he gets a holeshot he can be very likely to win a main and has.
The 65 Sr class was a race that you were sitting on the edge of your seat the whole time. Although there wasn’t much passing going on there was still lots of intense racing between the kids out on the track. A good battle that went on was between Kenny Grace (711) who was in fourth and Owen Bankes (225) right behind him and Jaxson Cruse (39) right with them in sixth place. Within the second lap around, Bankes was already passed Grace, while Cruse was still trying to find a way around Grace. Cruse wasn’t fighting for that spot long, the next lap around he made the pass and moved himself up to fifth and was now working on catching and passing Bankes. Now
getting down to last couple of laps, if Cruse wanted to make another pass he has to do it soon. While Bankes is trying to keep his spot, on the fourth lap he must have crashed because he went from fourth all the way down to eighth which put Cruse in that fourth place spot. At this point the kids in first, second, and third are too far ahead for Cruse to make any more passes before the race ends so Cruse was able to finish with a fourth!
In the 50cc 4-8 class, Owen Bailey (122), Legend Duff (21), Aiden Kane (118), and Joseph Rodriguez (115) all had an extremely close race. Bailey started off leading with Kane in second, Duff in third, and Rodriguez in fourth, all running real close to each other. Within the second lap they were already switching it up, Duff made a pass and took second and was on his way for Bailey, waiting for a spot to make a pass and try to take the lead. And by their third lap around Duff was able to find somewhere to make that pass, take the lead and put Bailey in second. Even though Bailey may have lost his first place spot, he couldn’t back down at all, Kane and Rodriguez were still right behind him. Once Duff got that lead he made sure to keep it till the finish, Bailey kept pushing, didn’t give up any more places, and finished in second. Kane never let Rodriguez get a chance to pass him even though these two raced very close together the entire race. Kane finished with a third and Rodriguez in fourth.
As the 50 Jr class took off we saw an instant battle between Jacob Fox (711) and Jaxson Donnelly (116). Fox was leading the race with Donnelly right on his tail, Fox was able to hold off Donnelly until their second lap around going over the west wall jump where Donnelly made a clean pass and took the lead. Fox didn’t let himself get discouraged by that though, he made sure to stay right behind Donnelly hoping he would be able to get another chance to get himself back in the lead. Although Fox was running right behind Donnelly, he wasn’t able to make any passes against Donnelly, so Donnelly finished in first with Fox close behind him in second. These two put on an amazing race and pushed each other to do their best out there!
Each race we see improvement from Amanda Taylor (451) in the Women’s class. This time around she started the race in third place with Kasia Kosciarz (725) in fourth. On their second lap around Kosciarz was getting real close to Taylor wanting to make a pass around her, but as Kosciarz was going into the corner after the middle jump she fell over which gave Taylor more time to hold onto that third-place spot. Unfortunately for Taylor, Abygail Buettner (726) was right behind her and snuck up, made a pass around her and took that third-place spot. Taylor dropped down to fourth but was still out there riding really well until on the third lap around when she got to the back of the track and her front brake locked up and she crashed. Even though that happened she still got back up and finished the race!
In the 25+ B/C class there was a tight race going on between Ryan Mushro (177) and Jordan Jones (217). Mushro was in third with Jones in fourth keeping Mushro within his reach, and as each lap went on, it seemed like Jones was getting a tad bit closer each time. Finally on their third lap around these two were coming into the corner after the middle jump and Mushro managed to come to pretty much a complete stop and Jones took that opportunity to pass Mushro and switch their positions around. Sadly for Jones, that didn’t last long, Mushro came back on the next lap and passed him back and made sure to not make any more mistakes the rest of the race so he could keep his third place spot, while Jones finished in fourth.
