Megacross M6 6-22-2024
Story by Kenzie Results
Somber night but great racing ensued.
M6 was a night with many things happening, a very somber note with the passing of another rider from our fold so to speak. We have seen some real unlucky and bad things this early race season and it's just so hard to type anything about it but as we all seen the riders came out and supported the ride for the the fallen this night and well it was quite a group and sight. All if not almost all the riders from 50cc kids to 60 year olds made 2 laps this night in honer of the fallen Riders Madrick (77) and Max (56). Two separate accidents which didn't envolve racing but so tradgic and just hurts one to the core.
The honor ride was done just to try to signify how much we all think about them and to in some way show that. It was a sight.
Racing of course followed with another great night of racing, specially the younger riders who are stepping up and making headway in this sport. In the Schoolboy class Cutter Riebe (322) takes the lead as the Schoolboy race takes off the line with Mikey Chiappini (177) out in second with Grant Robinson (426) right on his tail in third. These three pick up their speed pretty quick to give themselves a gap on the rest of the class while Landon Brandt (614) is out in fourth with both Emmet Baker (309) and Dane Miller (152) right up on him! As Robinson is trying to find a way around Chiappini, Riebe is starting to pull away from them, giving him a better chance of staying in the lead. Second lap around and Baker makes his way around Brandt and quickly starts to pull from Brandt and Miller. As Miller is right up on Brandt, he’s still trying to find a way to make the pass. Fourth lap in and Miller makes the pass around Brandt and brings himself up to fifth! Once Miller gets around Brandt he pulls away to try and catch Baker. Last lap and Riebe at the finish line to take the checkered flag and take the win! Robinson comes in second, Chiappini takes third, Baker in fourth, and Miller finishes in fifth!
During the heat race in the 250 A class, Garrett Ward (31) started the race out in second behind Kyle White (19) but quickly made the pass on White within the first couple laps to take the lead. Ward held the lead all the way to the finish in the heat race, but could he do it again for the mains? As the 250 A class took off the line, Rj Mackenzie (14) pulled the hole shot, with White in second, Tony Biagi (107) in third and Ward in fourth. Quickly into their first lap Ward made his way around Biagi to get right up on White while White was hanging on Mackenzie. As they race down the straight away, Ward is able to get right up next to White but just can’t get that complete pass in. While Mackenzie, White, and Ward are all running in a pack together, both White and Ward take their chance and make a pass on Mackenzie. White in the lead now, Ward right on him in second place, the two having an intense race once again! The two continued to race hard all the way to the checkered leaving White with the win and Ward taking second!
As soon as the 250 C race begins, there are instant battles out on the track. First lap headed down the front straight away, Jacob Young (60) and Devin Miller (17) are right up next to each other, the two head into that corner and Young comes out of the corner first to stay ahead while Miller is hanging right on his tail. Pretty quickly into the second lap, Miller made the pass around Young as they were going through a corner, once Miller makes that pass he makes his way right up to Trey Lee (131). He doesn’t stay behind Lee long, as he brings himself up to second place. As Miller is climbing his way to the top, Young is out behind them having a close race with James Coleman (917). While Young and Coleman are racing they’re pushing each other and catching up to Lee. Third lap in and something happens to Miller as he drops down to fifth. Lee takes back his second place and holds it to the checkered flag. Young takes a third with Coleman in fourth and Miller in fifth! After all the dust and racing settled, the crew got the event done just in time as the skies opened up for many on the way home!
