Rain all morning this day didn't stop the Megacross racing on Saturday night, 5 hours worth of steady misty, light rain which made many suspect the viablity of racing, when if fact once the Megacross crew got to the track it was evident that 2 hours of watering would be needed!

Cody Barnes, no one can deny the intensity that this Phoniex Honda rider brings to the event.  Home from racing in the summer Barnes (99) hits all the local races and brings the excitment level up a few notches. Soon he will be heading off to his day job, XC2 and currently running in 4th but only out of first by 18 points.  Bet he will be working hard to to get to the top rung on the points ladder!

In the Schoolboy class, Joshua Schumacher (7), James Noll (546), and Bryson Wells (926) were racing around the track all close together. As these three were going around, Schumacher was in fourth and was starting to just slightly pull away from the other two while Wells was getting closer and closer to Noll. At this point Noll was doing anything he could to just stay ahead of Wells, as they were heading into all the corners, Noll would take all the insides to do some block passing. As the checked flag came out, Wells had little to no time to get around Noll, Noll barely held off Wells to make sure he finished in fifth leaving Wells in sixth. Schumacher kept in fourth.

Troy Quest (18) took the lead for the 40+ B/C class, Dan Loveless (716) was carrying second with Jarod Dunne (624) hanging with him in third. Quest was keeping the lead while Loveless and Dunne were gaining on him for the first couple laps. About third lap in, Quest ended up dropping all the way down to fourth, which led Loveless to take the lead, Dunne still in second and Andrew Peiffer (792) to take third! Once Peiffer got around Quest, these two were practically right up next to each other for about half a lap. Quest backed off and Tim Buettner (92) was able to get around him as well. Headed into their last lap, Dunne was still hanging onto Loveless to see if he could steal the win from him. Loveless held him off and won the race! Everyone else held their positions till the end.

Cody Barnes came out to race again in the 250 A class and once again did not disappoint with putting on a show! Garrett Ward (31) pulled the hole shot with Gavin Sienkiewicz (402) pulling second and Cody Barnes (99) in third. These three took off in a group with a gap then Rj Mackenzie (14), Casey Palka (44), and Anthony Biagi (107) were in a group coming down the straight away of the first lap. It didn’t take long before Mackenzie pulled away from Palka and Biagi. Beginning of second lap Barnes got around Sienkiewicz and pretty shortly after that, he made his way around Ward to put himself in the lead. Ward was now in second with Sienkiewicz in third. Ward was able to stay about 3 seconds behind Barnes while Sienkiewicz was about 2 seconds behind Ward. These guys held their positions all the way to the checkered flag!

In 250 B, Justin Peterson (213) took the lead with Ryder Johnson (189) right behind in second. Peterson was doing as much as he could to keep the lead, Johnson was working on finding a way around Peterson. Peterson held Johnson off until the third lap when the two went into the corner right before the finish line jump and Johnson saw the opportunity, he took the inside, made the pass, and stole the lead from Peterson. While Joshua Schumacher started in sixth, each lap he was making his way up to the front. Braden Munson (717) was hanging out in third and it was about the third lap when Schumacher got up to fourth, he only had a couple laps, if that, to make anymore passes. He was starting to catch up to Munson and by the time the race was ending he was only a few feet away from Munson. Johnson finished with a win and Peterson in second.

Karson Connolly (14) and Zeyden Lawson (514) put on some great battles all night long in the 50 Open and 50 Sr classes. In the 50 Sr race, Lawson took off with the lead with Connolly right on his tail once again. These two were having an intense battle going on, Connolly was just inches away from taking the lead away from Lawson. Lawson was able to hold Connolly off for about half the race, till Connolly decided to start taking insides and made the pass in the corner before the finish line jump. Lawson didn’t back off he tried to take the lead back when they went into the next corner but made a little mistake which led Connolly to keep the lead. The whole time these two are on the track they had all eyes on them! 50 Open Lawson won and Connolly got second and 50 Sr Connolly won with Lawson in second, these two put on some amazing racing!

As the 50 Jr’s went out Karson Moon (223) in fifth, was keeping just ahead of Hudson Hinich (22)in sixth for the first couple laps. As the two were headed down the straight away on the third lap, Moon was still in front, but as they head into that corner, Hinich made the pass and put himself ahead of moon and switched their places around. Moon only had about one lap left if he wanted to switch their places back around. Hinich was not gonna let that happen though. Hinich stayed ahead of Moon till the finish and placed fourth, leaving Moon in fifth.

Colin Summers (399) took the lead in the 250 C class with Wesley Johnson (26) keeping right with him. Summers was doing a good job of keeping ahead, as they head into one of the corners, Johnson tried to get around Summers but Summers blocked him and made sure to keep that lead. Will Fabrizius (142) caught up and was now on Johnson’s tail. If anyone wanted to make a pass, they were going to have to do it soon with the race coming to an end. It was going to be a battle to the end between Fabrizius and Johnson as they were very close, Summers finishes with a win while Johnson was barely able to keep second and Fabrizius in third.

Racing on Saturday nights has been very solid in 2023, great turn outs and fun events, this night was over shadowed by a bizarre first turn tip over turned into a medical emergency.  As the team checked and seen the problem, it was clear more help was needed and they came quick, very intense happens when you hear a helicopter is landing in 8 min.  From what the guys said it's never has happened before.  At press time Jake (11) is doing well and could be at the upcoming event. Safe to say a very lucky young man and all the people who helped that night did a great job and all are very much appreciated.
