2023-2024 Traxs Winter Series ends on a high note with some very mild weather and some up and coming racers who are showing everytime they ride that they will be the guard and also showing that training has helped them rise to the top of the food chain in their persepective classes! Tonight was no different we have seen this all winter long and is a true testament on how much riding through out the winter makes a difference! First up was the 85Sr class these boys have raced each other hard for many years and now true speed is showing every time!
Emmett Baker (309) takes off with the lead in the 85 Sr race, Cole Johler (309/), Ethan Escatel (451), and Eddie Martens (412) all come around the corner together in a group, all wanting that second place spot that Johler currently had. As Escatel is becoming eager to get around Johler in their second lap, as they go into the corner before the dragons back, Escatel tries to cut across and make a pass on Johler but ends up with Martens right up next to him instead. As they make their way around the front sweeper, the two are elbow to elbow, and then Martens makes the pass on Escatel. End of 4th lap going around the front sweeper, Martens made another pass on Johler and moved himself up to second. Quickly Martens left Johler and Escatel to battle it out around their last lap. Escatel is trying to find a way to make a pass on Johler as the two are racing neck and neck, they head into corner before dragons back and Escatel cuts through the corner and ends up hitting Johler and pushes him off the track to take third place and leaving Johler in fourth as the race comes to an end.
Right off the start of the 65cc Open race, Karson Connolly (14) and Zachary Young (101) both fell in the first corner, which put Young out in last while Connolly couldn’t continue with his race. Young made his way to Aiden Rueter (26) and Brodie Mackay (216) and was hanging with them for a bit till close to the end of their second lap going over the dragons back when Young made the pass around Rueter. He was right on Mackay now trying to find a way to pass him. Once they got to the back section of the track, Young made his way around Mackay to switch their positions right around. As soon as he got around Mackay he was headed straight for Easten Daniels (56). Once he caught Daniels he quickly made his way around him to bring himself up another position. By this time there is only two laps left and Young was headed straight for a battle between Joey Knott (52) and Liam Stanley (103). As Young brought himself into the battle, the race intensified even more for all three of them. Fourth lap and Young made a pass on Stanley to put himself in the middle but Stanley stayed right with him, hoping to get his spot back before the race ended. It was the last lap around, coming over the big middle jump and Knott ends up crashing leaving Stanely and Young to battle it on their own, Stanley got his spot back by passing Young, checkered flag was out, Stanley came out in fourth, while Young was right there in fifth, and since it took Knott a minute to get back up he ended up in ninth!
In the 14-24 class, Reyvin Aguilar (223) in second and Kodi Bollinger (53 in third right off the bat were having a close race with each other till the second lap when Bollinger made the pass around Aguilar and took off from him. With Aguilar in third now, he dropped back a little and joined Kasia Kosciarz (725) and Landen Cook (122) in their battle. Kosciarz was out in fourth while Cook was hanging onto her in fifth, trying to find his way around her but was having no luck. As the group went onto their third lap, they were headed down the middle section and Cook found his way to make the pass around Kosciarz. Once he made his around Kosciarz he quickly went on to get around Aguilar as well to finish with a third! Leaving fourth place to Aguilar and fifth place to Kosciarz.
With the turnout for the Open C class, we had to split it into two classes once again, and both those classes had some pretty good racing in them!
Open C1 started with Chase Johnson (89), Devrick Sayles (226), and Victor Ostapowicz (222) all running in a close group out in the middle off the pack. These three stayed with each other for about a lap and a half till Sayles decided to go for the pass around Johnson through the corner after the big middle jump by taking the outside! Sayles went straight for Kyle Baumann (31) and Landeen Cook (122) who were also having a close race. Sayles follows these two for about a lap or so, hoping to be able to get some more passes in. Fourth lap in and Sayles takes his chances and makes a pass around Baumann, and just before the lap ends he makes another pass around Cook as well, bringing himself up to third! Leaves the battle to Baumann and Cook again with only one lap left. Baumann has been hanging onto Cook for quite a while now and is running out of time to make any moves. Wasn’t long into the last lap around and Baumann made the pass to get around Cook so that he could finish with a fourth and Cook in fifth, while Sayles came out with a third!
As Open C2 took off the line, Gavin Achenbach (129), Isaac Colter (325), Tyler McGarry (859), and Hunter Lingel (348) all started their race in a close pack. About half way through their second lap around, Colter made a pass around Achenbach over the big middle jump to take himself out of the pack and leave the battle to the rest of the three. As time went on McGarry was inching closer and closer to Achenbach, waiting for the right time to pass him. As the two went over the dragons back McGarry got right up next to Achenbach, they got down to the front sweeper and McGarry switched their places around and leave the battle to Achenbach and Lingel, only Lingel didn’t stay much longer. Shortly into the next lap Lingel made his way around Achenbach and brought back his battle with McGarry. These two raced close and battled it out for the final couple laps. McGarry was not letting Lingel get by him he made sure to stay ahead till the checkered flag to finish with fifth and Lingel coming in sixth!
